Camp Coaches and Jr. Coaches

We are hiring for Summer Camps 2026 - (And possibly Spring Break!)

We are looking for coaches ages 16+ and Jr. Coaches ages 13-15.

Coaches are scheduled by the week and should be available for a minimum of two weeks of summer camp. Camp staff works 8:30am - 3:30/4pm Monday - Friday. - 35 Guaranteed hours/week

Jr. Coaching is NEW for 2026. Jr. Coaches youth are volunteers ages 13-15 who are looking to grow their skills and love being in a day camp environment. Jr. Coaches will receive free training and their choice of a free week of travel camp or 6 months of free skating at Stronger Skatepark in return for volunteering at at least two weeks of summer camp.

Coaching Job Description

Coaches are responsible for the physical and emotional safety of our program participants first and foremost. 

Coaches are also responsible for helping develop the skate/scooter skills of program participants through collaboration and support and without the use of coercion or punishment. 

Coaches are responsible for teaching park safety and etiquette including enforcing safety rules.

Coaches are responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and fun environment for all participants.

Coaches are also responsible for supervising youth in the space during programming including encouraging kids to participate, enforcing rules, and engaging them in downtime activities. 

Coaches are responsible for cleaning throughout the day as needed, as well as at the conclusion of programming, including cleaning spills, wiping tables, sweeping, moping, and cleaning restrooms. Travel camp coaches are responsible for cleaning out the van each day and vacuuming and wiping down the interior at the end of the week. 

Coaches are responsible for first aid including helping participants with cleaning scrapes and cuts, applying bandages, handing out ice packs, and determining when we need to call 911 or guardians depending on the severity of the injury. They are responsible for supervising and assessing the condition of participants after a fall throughout the day and determining if their condition is worsening. 

Coaches are responsible for giving feedback to participants on their skating/scooting and general behavior, helping them grow into young people who know how to care for themselves, other people, and the world around them. 

Coaches are responsible for making sales in the skateshop before, during and after programming. 

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working with children

  • Have previous experience working in a sports environment

  • Be familiar with skateboarding, scootering, and park roller skating

  • Know how to work through conflict from a restorative justice mindset

  • Be in alignment with our core values of justice and inclusion

  • Be comfortable working together as a team

  • Be highly communicative and low drama

  • Be comfortable communicating with parents about their children

  • Enjoy working with people of all ages, especially kids

  • Be able to stay calm in stressful situations including when there are significant injuries

  • Be first aid/CPR certified 

  • Be comfortable with being in a loud environment for extended periods of time

  • Be helpful, understanding, and courteous to all people

No Candidate will have all these skills - We encourage you to apply as long as you have some of these skills and are excited to grow in the areas you don’t have experience in.
