Camps

Our camps are well loved because they are FUN! Kids learn to ride at their own pace with the support of our amazing staff.

NEW for Summer 2024:

Travel Camps!

This summer we are buying a van and hitting the road! Each week will be taking a small group of kids out to parks spread across the entire metro area. Spots are super limited for these camps, only so many spots in the van!

Each weeks destinations will be picked by the coaches and the campers based on what kinds of parks the group is most interested in. We are excited to have some of our most experienced staff returning to make this new camp offering an amazing experience!

No two weeks will ever be quite the same as there are so many amazing parks in our metro area, so multiple weeks will provide new experiences every time!

See us in action!

In 2022 group of students from University of Oregon came to spend some time at our summer camp. This is a great inside look at what we do and how we serve a diverse community. Thank you to Ed, Jenni, and David for producing this short film.

More Details about camp!

What to Bring to Camp

Every day campers should bring any skate gear they have, more food than you think they need, a water bottle, and any downtime activities they enjoy (books, art supplies, etc.) We will ask kids not to use screens except for filming and communication with parents. We want to keep the focus on riding. Please send your camper in flat soled shoes. No open toed shoes allowed. Send an extra set of clothes in their bag in case of ripped pants or spills!

Rental gear (pads, skateboards, helmets, etc.) is available in limited quantities at no extra charge. We highly recommend kids bring their own skateboard/scooter/helmet/pads if they own them, but if you need gear, we have you covered!

Sending your camper in with money for additional snacks is also a good idea. We have water, Gatorade, Clif bars, Goldfish, and other snacks for purchase at the park at very reasonable prices. Everything is under $3 with several items being only $1. On the last day, the campers receive free ice cream or Italian ice from our neighbors Great American Video & Espresso. Allergy friendly options are available, but you are also welcome to send an alternative treat.

If you don’t want to leave your kid with cash, you can purchase a reloadable gift card at our front desk during drop-off.

What to Expect at Camp

During drop-off (8:45-9:15 AM), kids are welcome to get settled, get geared up, and ride in the park or simply hang out until we circle up around 9:20am. Kids should keep all their food and gear in the back room where there are tables set up and lockers available for more storage. There are no locks on the lockers, but campers are welcome to bring their own.

We do not allow parents to stay during camp except in instances of highly anxious kids who need that support to be able to participate. We find that kids have more fun and push themselves more when they can work in their small groups without parents around.

Parents are welcome back at 3pm for full day camps (12:30pm for half day camps). If you need to pick up earlier just give us a heads up. During pick-up time, you are welcome to hang out and see what your kid is working on at camp! We need everyone out of the park within 20 minutes of camp ending so we can clean before open skate begins.

Each day of camp starts with a group circle-up to go over camp expectations, our schedule, our goals for the day, and learn a little bit about skateparks and action sports. We then break up the rest of the day between small group instruction, open skate, dodgeball, art, and other activities. We end with another circle-up to share our accomplishments and shout out others’ achievements.

Everything we do is based on interest and consent, which means we do not force kids to skate while they are here. Our programming is very skate-focused and we do our best to help every child feel comfortable trying new things, but sometimes kids just don’t feel like skating and we respect that. The only hard requirements are being present for our opening and closing circles and to follow our safety rules.

On  certain weeks, we run camps for multiple sports at the same time. During these weeks, your child will be limited to the sport they signed up for during small group instruction. During open skate time, they are welcome to try any of the sports that are happening that week.

We have a child-led mindset and are very flexible. We encourage kids to take water and snack breaks as needed throughout the day. We want this to be a fun environment, and sometimes in order to keep riding fun kids need to step away and do other things when they get tired, hurt, or frustrated. This is why we have many other activities available throughout the week and why we encourage kids to bring their own downtime activities if they like. NOTE: We discourage kids from bringing screens/video games to camp.

Many kids love our camps because of this - they love the level of freedom they are given to make their own choices about how to engage, and that they can feed themselves whenever they need to, and take breaks whenever they like. We see summer camp as a chance for kids to grow in their independence and confidence while also making lots of new friends.

Conflicts and Rules

We take a community-focused restorative justice approach to conflict. This means that if a camper breaks a rule or camp agreement or finds themselves in conflict with another camper, we will do our best to talk through what is going on and find a way to meet everyone's needs so we can move forward together. During this process, we let everyone involved share their feelings and what they feel they need to resolve the conflict.

Through this process, those involved are able to learn more about each other, gain empathy for other people, and learn how to collaborate and care better for one another.

Being open to this type of conflict mediation is part of attending camp. If a conflict is unable to be solved or a child is continually acting in a way that endangers themselves or others, we may need to send them home for the day or the week. We work incredibly hard to avoid this, but in the rare case it happens, there are no refunds for any time missed.

Cancellation and Refund Policies

Refund policies vary by camp, please read carefully when you book to understand each camps cancellation policy.
